The Workplace Of The Healthcare Profession - 1449 Words

People go into the healthcare profession with the idea that they are going to help people during their hardest times, but those same people often never imagine the dangers they could face as they simply do their job. The number of healthcare workers assaulted by patients has been increasing at an alarming rate. According to Lanctà ´t and Guay, healthcare professionals have more than 16 times the risk of being assaulted (physically, verbally, or sexually) than any other service worker. The International Labour Organization defines workplace violence as â€Å"Any action, incident or behavior that departures from reasonable conduct in which a person is assaulted, threatened, harmed, injured in the course of, or as a direct result of, his or her†¦show more content†¦According to a systematic review of workplace violence in healthcare studies, it has been found that nearly 36% of workplace physical assault survivors find that their physical wellbeing and health decline after t he attack. Surveys have shown that many survivors are hyper-vigilant or overcautious after an attack, leaving them to be less focused on their job and more focused on watching their back. Many survivors also reported that their fear of patients is often generalized to all patients, not just the violent ones, causing an overall reduction of patient care quality to be noted with these healthcare workers (Lanctà ´t and Guay, 2014). Approximately 5-32% of survivors of workplace violence present with the diagnosable symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the attack they faced (Lanctà ´t and Guay, 2014). According to a previous lecture by Catherine S. Wilson, â€Å"as much as 90% of the general population is exposed to a traumatic event during their lifetime.† After these traumatic events, about 8% of males and 20% of females go on to develop PTSD, with symptoms such as decreased interest, hypervigilance, decreased concentration, and flashbacks (Wilson, 2015). All of these symptoms mentioned by Catherine were also found to be prevalent in healthcare professionals that had been the survivor of a violent attack. For starters, video games are made to be addictive. I Father O’reilly am privileged to have gathered amongst you all today, to give another perspective of a man who was not â€Å"just Ed†. He never gave himself great value but in my eyes he was a saint walking among us. I will never forget the moments and favours that Ed has shared with me. I still remember the day when I first met Ed. It was just a usual lonely night, when this young man showed up at my doorstep. I must say my first impressions of Ed were certainly very unique. Firstly the state of his jacket and not to mention the fact that he put four sugars in his coffee which made me slightly concerned. I never really got to ask Ed what he thought of me, I sort of knew he considered me a bit different to the rest especially being a priest and talking the way I do. There was that something about Ed which made him very special, I don’t know whether it was his innocent face or just the way he spoke but it seemed as if he had a passion to make things right in life. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am to this young boy, he has provided me a new perspective on how to live life. Ed visited me on a couple of occasions sometimes with his two friends Audrey and Marv. It didn’t take him long to realise that there weren’t many people who would visit my church. Ed took this matter into his own hands and it seemed as if he was determined to find a way to fix my problem. It was only a couple of days after visiting me on Sunday when Ed came barging through the front door with an idea on how to get people into my church. I must say I was shocked when I first heard the idea providing free beer in the church. I still remember the first thing I said to Ed was that I don’t have the money to cover the costs of such an aactivity. Ed ironically said to me â€Å"just have a little faith† and walked away. I wondered at this point as to why he is doing so much for me when I barely even knew him from a bar of soap. There was certainly something which was pushing Ed to do all this for me but I never tried to interfere with his reasons. The next time I met Ed was on the day of the party at the church. I don’t know how many faces Ed has put a smile to, but one thing I can say for sure is that the happiness I achieved from that one day alone was something I doubt will ever come along in my life again. The number of people I saw in my church that day was never to be seen before, although the most important moment for me was when I reunited with the one man who I was longing to talk to. If I had the chance to change one thing with Ed, then that would be letting him know how grateful I am of all he has done for me. Besides what Ed has done for me, I have also heard about what he has done for others. The one I have heard about the most is the ice cream he bought for a lonely mother. It is certainly great to see that there are still people out there who are willing to go out of their way to help others. From the bottom of my heart I again would like to thank you for everything you have done for me Ed. Others may call you average, ordinary or even useless but to me you will always remain a saint. H1: There is significant rise in the number of business from the year 2013-14 to the year 2015-16 as there is significant rise in the access of internet The results that have been gathered after the assessment of the values and the figures that have been collected explain that construction sector has the number of businesses, followed by the professional, technical and scientific services. The extent of innovation that has been highest in the art and recreational services and agriculture, fishing and forestry services has the lowest level of innovation. Wholesale trade is still under the process of development and most number of businesses that are abandoned is in the art and recreation services. The figures in association to the research question 1 explains that there has been significant rise in the number of business from the year 2013-14 to the year 2015-16 as there has been significant rise in the access of internet, presence of social media and other aspects as well (Abs.gov.au, 2017). The rise in the business due to the incorporation of the innovation has even led to the rise in the income from internet by a significant margin . H2: There are possible factors that significantly changing the use of Information Technology The next research question has even been crucial enough in making an explanation that automated links have mostly not in use in the system to receive order and other business systems and therefore steps and measures have to be taken with the help of which better business operations can be undertaken. The overall usage of the IT support service has been the maximum in the consultancy and contractor services and this services needs to be increased even in the other sectors as well in order to improve the operations of the business in various sectors in the Australian economy (Abs.gov.au, 2017). The results even indicate that use of digital subscriber line has been the highest in the economy and this has been influential for the development of the Australian economy in accordance to the global economy. The correlation that has been attained for the research question number 2 explains that all the variables that have been taken into consideration have positive correlation as the values are more than 0 but the values are more close to the value 0 rather than staying close to 1, indicating that the relationship among the variables are related but are not related to closely with each other. The positive value indicates that innovations in the business sector in accordance to these variables can improve the operational activities of the business and therefore the company can bring in changes in their operational plans accordingly in order to maintain competitive edge. Conclusion This particular section will address the research aims as well as questions, along with the research limitations and recommendations. Addressing aims and research questions The aim of this particular research study is to identify the use of information technology in order to secure personnel and financial operations of Australian Marketing Industry. As per the first research question, the business use of Information Technology, selected by indicators over the years from 2013-14 to 2015-16 are analyzed. It is concluded that there is a rise into internet access and web presence from 2013-14 to the year 2015-2016. Based on research question 2, there are no such automated links among the systems to receive the order and other business systems. Use of the digital subscriber line is increasing among the Australian economy. Limitations In this particular research study, reliability is considered as the limitation as the analyzed data are gathered from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The researcher is unable to provide any guarantee of the quality along with reliability of the collected data and information. Due to two of the research constraints, it is difficult to carry out the work such as time as well as budget; therefore it restricts the scope of the study. Recommendations There are recommendations for the research manager as well as researchers such as: Use of IT system: The system recommended using of the IT in order to improve access to the information along with support evidence based decision making. IT should improve the quality of the marketing business operations; the evidence that IT is improved important marketing related outcomes is being limited. Most of the marketing organization should use of IT for strategic plan in order to improve quality care of services and products. Implement of inventory management system: When it comes to manage of inventory into marketing sector, the businesses are required to maintain stock to meet the demand without invest into more they need. The proposed system would track the quality of the items; trigger the order for additional stock when there is fall into qualities. It is best to implement of Point of Sale (POS) system which ensures that each of the item is being sold and there is removal of item from inventory count. Data management system: The organization should store of digital versions for the documents on the server as well as storage devices with use of this data management system. in this way, the documents should be available to everyone.
