OldHence the organisation in this perspective should make it a point that all the possible changes happening in the company are needed to all the candidates working for that particular part where the change has taken place.Steps involved in change and how communication should be handled at each levelClarity is the message to be delivered The change is first communicated/ make outn to the top level management or the spry supervisor who is responsible for that part of work where implementation of the change happened is a necessity and should be chartered to all related to it. These slew who are responsible for dispatching message crosswise should be clear about the message which is to be transmitted among others.Method The method chosen for delivering the message should be proper i.e. should be accessible to all the people and by proper channel where all of them can understand its operation. In all it sho uld suit the circumstances. It should be kept in mind that when the message is sent by the sender, after receiving it, the receiver should be open to communicate back in case of any doubts or questions to be raised regarding the like matter.Communication technology systems or other communication materials are available to use throughout the department/process where the message of change has to be incured.Complicated way or using hi-fi redbrick technology for communications may be a problem for some people, hence should be avoided in considering the steps for communication.Communication should be in a simplified, concise and precise form so that all the people can understand and actively take part.( Ref. http//humanresources.about.com/od/changemanagement/a/change_lessons2.htm )Effective internal communicationEffective internal communication is where all the candidates, they may be the managers, employees or the volunteers who actively participates and are focuse on the goals of the organisation and all involved has the same object to be established. How to communicate this change is a point where the management has to have a proper plan/strategy. Change in this context can be confidential or general. Proper means of communication should be selected to communicate the change. There can be possibilities where the change cannot be communicated with the present communication means/tools in the organisation. Purchases of new communicative products may b necessary. Different means are supposed to be used communicating at each level of management, it is not necessary that all the change taking pla ce is to be conveyed to all the employees. Hence it should be filtered and proper channels should be used accordingly. use Bank of America, where in the voice process there happens a lot of changes within short interval of time. It is based on the counselling/customer service/collection to/from the customers who has mortgage with the band. Different rules/programs/fluctuations in the interest rates/refinancing of loans etc used to take place very often. Communication in this context of change is not that easy for the managers as the schedule fixed for the working employees are logged in on the system and are on calls all the time of their shift. In between that they cannot be communicated with any urgent change. Hence the very next day/after the shift there is a briefing arranged for all the teams working under this process. This may lead to irrelevant/old information being conveyed to the customers as of that date and hence for some time being. Therefore, there is a bombastic imp act of change on the communication process which leads to passing of wrong information throughout the chain.Impact of change in the organisation makes communication a necessity calling a meeting to discuss as how to communicate this change. Hence this change to be communicated also starts with a communication process as meeting in this case.It starts when one feels uneasy or concerned about the situation of change within the organization or outside the organisation. Then one realises that some action needs to be taken to CHANGE the present situation. Studying the situation in depth and make a plan to convey the CHANGE for betterment . Implementing the plan by suitable action.Reviewing the situation and continuing the process after communicating it with all the employees responsible and give the training if infallible for the implementation of this change.( Fenil Shah - Senior Manager ATLASCOPCO )Obstacles or challenges that can be met through the different communication supports u sed in an internal communication system in a context of change.Sender - When the sender is not able to properly understand the change and still communicates. Either the message communicated is not proper or it has not been put down properly.Medium/channel - Wrong selection of medium to send the message. Interruption or signal failure or emcee problems leads to improper internal communication. This regards in delay of message or inaccuracy of message to be communicated.Oversight - Notices put up on the board may be overlooked by certain employees which gives a negative impact on the work where that particular change is to be implemented.Improper regard - Management takes thinly to communicate this change on time resulting in delay or sometimes does not communicate due to overload of work and hence forgetting to convey the change.Language - Language should be easy and in proper context so that everyone understands it.Audio - Disturbance/Unclear audio may not convey message clearly wh ich leaves a doubt of the listener.Fear - Small employees who did not understand the change message may have the fear to go to the immediate supervisor and clear the doubts may be because of the fear of being insulted or improper relationship.Poor Listening Poor hearing can sabotage any attempt at communication. We all do it we hear a little and then fill in what we think the rest exit be, without really listening to whats actually being said.Information source - The source of information is the human mind. It is possible that if this source does not want to communicate the message as it has to be. There are chances he may make some alterations in the change which has to be made within the process. There are many other stages where dozens of obstacles interrupt the communication process when there is a change. The statges may be lined as follows -Outgoing messageTransmitterOutgoing signal impartIncoming signalReceiverIncoming messageDestination( Ref - http//facta.junis.ni.ac.rs/l al/lal99/lal99-05.pdf )The challenges that can be met when dealing with an international teamLanguage - Language can be a big challenge when dealing with the international team. Even if the language is the same, accent of speaking may have a huge difference which at once may be difficult to understand. Incase of language being different, it is very difficult then to communicate directly but should rather have a common team who deals with the translation of language and then forwards it to the people concerned.Example - Bank of America, where in the voice process there is a special Spanish team to deal with the customers who does not know the language English.Culture - time and space, personal responsibility and fate, face and face-saving, and nonverbal communication are such(prenominal) more complex than it is possible to convey. Each of them influences the course of communications, and can be responsible for conflict or the escalation of conflict when it leads to miscommunication or misinterpretation. A culturally-fluent approach to conflict means working over time to understand these and other ways communication varies across cultures, and applying these understandings in order to enhance relationships across differences.( Ref- http//www.beyondintractability.org/essay/cross-cultural_communication/ )Time Difference - Communication may not be possible at all time when dealing with the team abroad. This is because of the time difference between the countries all over the world. Hence communication then becomes a problem for communicating or discussing some urgent business matter. withal in this case, getting a response for a certain message would take time and wont be quicker in cases urgent. These may bring limitations to the communication process as a whole.RecommendationsCommunicate consistently, frequently, and through multiple channels, including speaking, writing, video, training, focus groups, bulletin boards, Intranets, and more about the change.Comm unicate all that is known about the changes, as quickly as the information is available. Make clear that your bias is toward instant communication, so some of the details may change at a later date. Tell people that your other choice is to hold all communication until you are positive about the decisions.Provide significant amounts of time for people to ask questions, request clarification, and provide input. If you have been part of a scenario in which a leader presented changes, on overhead transparencies, to a large group, and then fled, you know what bad news this is for change integration.Clearly communicate the vision, the mission, and the objectives of the change management effort. Help people to understand how these changes will affect them personally. (If you dont help with this process, people will make up their own stories, usually more negative than the truth.)Recognize that true communication is a conversation. It is two-way and real discussion must result. It cannot be just a presentation. The change leaders or sponsors need to spend time conversing one-on-one or in small groups with the people who are expected to make the changes.Communicate the reasons for the changes in such a way that people understand the context, the purpose, and the need. Practitioners have called this building a memorable, conceptual modeling, and creating a theoretical framework to underpin the change.Provide answers to questions only if you know the answer. Leaders destroy their credibility when they provide incorrect information or appear to stumble or back-peddle, when providing an answer. It is much better to say you dont know, and that you will try to find out.Leaders need to listen. Avoid defensiveness, excuse-making, and answers that are given too quickly. Act with thoughtfulness.Make leaders and change sponsors available, daily when possible, to mingle with others in the workplace. .Communication should be proactive. If the rumor mill is already in action, the or ganization has waited too long to communicate.Provide opportunities for people to net with each other, both formally and informally, to share ideas about change and change management.Publicly review the measurements that are in place to chart progress in the change management and change efforts.Publicize rewards and recognition for positive approaches and accomplishments in the changes and change management. Celebrate each small win publicly.(Ref - http//humanresources.about.com/od/changemanagement/a/change_lessons2.htm )References(http//humanresources.about.com/od/changemanagement/a/change_lessons2.htm)(http//www.beyondintractability.org/essay/cross-cultural_communication/)(http//facta.junis.ni.ac.rs/lal/lal99/lal99-05.pdf)(http//www.fastrak-consulting.co.uk/tactix/Tools/commtool/frameset.htm )

Strategic Position For The Future Of Sabmiller Commerce Essay

Strategic Position For The Future Of Sabmiller Commerce EssayIn the brewery industry, SABMiller, which has been operating across six continents, is now one of the worlds leading brewers. Regarding of the business environment, the company has go forthed from a ontogeny pastoral, South Africa, and has successfully entered into both developed and developing markets through acquisitions and marijuana cig atomic number 18tte enter. According to the financial report for the last five years, the company has been doing quite well (SABMiller, 2012).For the strategic capabilities, the solids resources and competences are taken into account. Firstly, in 1950, the firm was able to move its headquarters from London to Johannesburg in order to expand its business in Southern Africa due to the restriction of trading between the country and the international businesses. Secondly, the firm is able to raise capital through its listing on the London stock exchange. Thirdly, the firm has entered i nto the global market by acquiring some major brands such as Dreher from Hungary, Miller from USA and forming a joint venture in China. Then, the company also has made other acquisitions, joint ventures and brewery investments in other countries in recent years. However, acquisition may not be applied for SABMiller any more than in the future because of fewer larger transformational deals and begin prospects of high financial of returns. About the management structure of the firm, it practices decentralization as topical anaesthetic managers understand deeper about the local businesses (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011).3.2 The new vision logical argument, mission statement and the strategic objectivesVisionThe best in the world in providing the most various choices for beer drinkersMissionIncrease fruit portfoliosFind more business partners translate the most comfortable working environmentStrategic objectivesIncrease profit to 15 % annuallyIncrease the sale of amplitude beersForming more joint ventures with local brandsUpgrade the latest technology in administration and manufacturing. As age goes by, SABMiller has been growing larger enormously through acquisitions and joint ventures, and it has almost earned more profit from these business deals. Therefore, a new vision statement for the firm is to be the best in the world in providing the most various choices for beer drinkers. In order to support the vision, SABMillers mission is to increase more product portfolios for the consumers. The firm will find more business partners to grow bigger and bigger in the brewery industry. The firm will provide the most comfortable working environment that employees will be most satisfied and efficient by providing the most advanced- technical conditions. Those missions must be carried out in specific strategic objectives. First of all, the firms aim is to increase its profit by 15 % annually. Secondly, It needs to increase more types of beer, especially inter national premium beers to meet the rising demand in emerging markets. Thirdly, it also needs to find out more opportunities for growth with its brisk product portfolios through joint ventures in local brands. Finally, the firm needs to upgrade the latest technology in administration as well as manufacturing, so the employees will feel more convenient and put more effort in their work.3.3 Three alternative possible strategic preferences for SABMillerThe first strategic pickaxe recommended for the firm would be the product emergence, which deliver new products into the existing markets. In terms of Generic strategies, this strategy should commission on differentiation by building more premium types of beer. The reason is that the beer consumption is growing in these emerging markets, and the people here are earning more (Simon, 2012) therefore, they are willing to pass more for their drink as well. Another reason is that consumers nowadays still prefer high quality beer during t he economic crisis (Nadine and Simon, 2012). Although this strategy will fall into caput marks in the Bostons BCG matrix as these premium beers are totally new products, they are more likely to turn into stars as the market dole out is growing, and the consumers will pay more as well. Product development is also a strategy belongs to the Ansoff matrix, so SABMiller needs to add more new premium beers to its brand portfolios in the existing markets such as in China, Latin the States and South Africa, which are also emerging markets. The second strategic option would be the market development, which the firm will penetrate into new markets with the existing products. Even though the target markets here are Africa and Asia, which SABMiller has already entered, it jakes rattling bring more brands from North America, Latin America and Europe to these countries due to the lack of its brand portfolios in these two regions. This is also a cost-focus strategy, based on the Generic strateg ies, for the firm as the costs of labor and raw materials in African and Asian countries such as China and Vietnam are cheaper, so it is an emolument for the company to cut costs in manufacturing. In terms of the BCG matrix, this option also fall into a question mark as local brands from Europe, for instance, are new in Africa and Asia. However, there will be a high chance to become a star within a short time as consumption is rising up in these regions. Market development is another strategy belongs to the Ansoff matrix as the firms current products portfolios from North America, Latin America and Europe are totally new for consumers in African and Asian countries. The last option, which SABMiller is capable of doing and actually has succeeded before, is joint venture. Based on the case, the firm can consider entering into a joint venture with Dos Equis Brewer Fomento Economico Mexicano (FEMSA) from Mexico, or EFES Breweries International from Turkey. According to Generic strategy, this can be known as a cost-focus strategy for SABMiller because these two brands are currently doing alright in rising markets like Latin America, Africa and Asia therefore, SABMiller is able to have a good start as it is also operating businesses prosperously in these markets. In the BCG matrix, both SABMiller and these two brands are having high market share and growth in those emergent markets with their current product portfolios therefore, if joint venture takes place, there will be no doubt that SABMillers market share and growth will boost up continuously. In terms of Ansoff matrix, this strategic option actually help SABMiller increase its market share in its current markets, Latin America, Africa and Asia with the current and combined product portfolios of both the firm itself and it partners (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011).Lower costDifferentiationBroad targetCost leadershipDifferentiationNarrow target32Cost focus1Differentiation focusCompetitive advantageCompe titive scopeTable 1 Porters Generic strategiesMarket shareHighLowHigh3Stars21Question marks bullion cowsDogsMarket growthLowTable 2 BCG matrixProducts / servicesExistingNewExisting3Market penetration1New products servicesNew2Market developmentConglomerate diversificationMarketsTable 3 Ansoff matrixStrategic options1 Product development2 Market development3 Joint venture3.4 The most recommended strategic options for SABMillerOut of the above three strategic options, join venture would be a great move recommended for SABMiller. In fact, the firm has succeeded in forming joint ventures with others firm, so it clearly shows that the company is capable of doing such kind of thing. Furthermore, the two considerable firms for forming joint ventures, FEMSA and EFES, are doing quite well in Latin America, Africa and Asia, where SABMiller is also having a good taste with its business, so it will be an advantage for SABMiller as it can achieve more growth, reduce competitors in these markets. In addition, forming joint ventures also helps SABMiller to expand its product portfolios into other current markets. To sum up, forming a joint venture can be seen as a safer option as the current product portfolios are star products with high market share, while the other two option might be a teeny-weeny bit riskier as the products and the markets are new and unpredictable to measure successes.

Michael Wigglesworth: Devoted Preacherman Overcomes Sickliness And Sill

Michael Wigglesworth Devoted Preacherman Overcomes Sickliness And Silly Name to Write The First American Bestseller THE MAN (NO MYTH, NO LEGEND) puritan diaries provide feeble fodder for biographical blurbs. Most diaries focus primarily on spiritual growth. The diary of Michael Wigglesworth is hardly an exception. As noted in the reputable Dictionary of Literary Biography, Wigglesworths private, personal sustenance is surrounded by much ambiguity and conjecture. Wigglesworth (1631-1705) spent the bulk of his life in Malden, Massachusetts, his activities alternating between preaching, writing preachy poetry, and retching in pain. He studied at Harvard and eventually became a practicing physician and minister. He hardly had a year of preaching under his proverbial belt when an obscure painful, lingering disease smote him silly. The disease ravaged his innards for nearly twenty years, during which time he had to decline the presidency of Harvard and turn to poetry as a means of preachi ng from his sickbed (Bosco 337-342).When compared to some of his contemporaries, Wigglesworth composed a fairly slim collection of poetry. However, The daytime of Doom, an Edwards-esque diatribe detailing the second coming of Christ, achieved immense popularity. Hailed by numerous scholars as the first American bestseller, the poem (comprise of 224 eight-line stanzas) was an immediate success in the American colonies. Generations of schoolchildren memorized it, and their pious parents clutched it closely. Perhaps roused by his success, or by his marriage to a woman 25 years his junior, Wigglesworth made a startling recovery and spurn his disease. As Cotton Mather observed, It pleased God wondrously to restore His Faithful Servant. He... ...mporaries Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor. Wigglesworths style strikes contemporary readers as more appropriate to the pulpit than to poetical stanzas. The didactic style, exactly what Puritan readers favored, displeases most modern readers (Bosco 337-342). Works CitedBosco, Ronald A. Michael Wigglesworth. Dictionary of Literary Biography. Inventing A Writing Technology :: Teaching Writing Education Essays

Inventing A Writing Technology When we originally were given the criteria for this assignment, I knew right away what it was that I was outlet to do. I love being creative and sharing my ideas with other people, I like to think of myself as somewhat of an original person. My idea would initially take all of the given criteria permanence, portability, creativity, and naturalness of the components used to compose my creative piece of writing. Growing up, my brother and I would venture out when the creek was frozen and make up on the ice for hours on end. One of the things we would do was carve out the ice to make picture, games and such. I knew that for his project, using ice would be an excellent idea. I knew it was fairly easy to do, it would stay there for as long as the creek continued to be frozen, and if necessary, it could be cut out and taken on to wherever I needed to go. When I arrived at my parents house, I headed straight for the creek with th e plan in mind only to pass off that the ice was snow covered. I was down, but not out. After shoveling the ice, I was ready to begin my carving only to find that the ice was bubbly and decidedly not smooth enough to be a recognizable writing near. My plan was shot, I had numerate home for nothing. From this point on, I was forced to come up with an alternative plan of action. I thought of many things to use such as sticks and stones, but they would all sink into the snow if I displace them there and where not very portable or permanent if laid upon the ice. After weighing my options and a great deal of thought, I caught a coup doeil of one of the many trees that line my creek bank. On the tree were many jagged icicles one of which I decide to use as my writing tool. My surface became the dreaded snow that was the culprit behind my initially foiled plan.
